In our lab, we use barcodes to manage and quickly collect data.

Creation

We use Bartender software combined with two different barcode printers to create the majority of our barcodes.

Utility

Seed

All seed packets are labeled with an assigned seed identification number along with a corresponding barcode. This lets us quickly scan and organize them with our Inventory app.

Plants

We use a stake printer to create planting stakes that have barcodes corresponding to the plant identification number. These barcodes are used when collecting tissue with our Coordinate app.

Field

Field Book has the ability to read barcodes and move to a specific, barcoded plot. We also have created several barcoded tools to quickly collect plant height, leaf length, and leaf angle with Field Book using an external barcode scanner.
